Veterans Resource Center is dedicated to ending veteran homelessness in the South Puget Sound through housing assistance, peer support, and benefits navigation. We honor the service of those who served our country by ensuring they have a safe, stable place to call home.
Founded in 2003 by a group of Vietnam-era veterans who witnessed fellow veterans sleeping under the Puyallup River bridges, VRC started as a weekend meal program. Today, we operate three transitional housing facilities with 72 beds, a drop-in resource center in downtown Tacoma, and a mobile outreach team that contacts veterans living unsheltered throughout Pierce and King counties.
In partnership with the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and the Pierce County Continuum of Care, VRC administers the HUD-VASH program locally, placing veterans in permanent housing with VA case management. Since 2010, we have helped more than 1,200 veterans achieve stable housing.
Our team of 28 staff includes licensed social workers, certified benefits counselors, housing specialists, and peer support specialists — the majority of whom are veterans themselves. We believe that those with lived experience of military service are best positioned to support fellow veterans.
