Medical Assistant Certification

12-week clinical & administrative training track — NCCT-CMA exam preparation.

Curriculum

• Anatomy & physiology (2 weeks)
• Clinical procedures — vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy (4 weeks)
• Administrative & billing systems — EHR, insurance basics (3 weeks)
• Clinical externship at Providence, Swedish, or Kaiser (3 weeks, 120 hours)

Cohort Schedule (2024)

• Winter cohort: January 8 — March 29
• Spring cohort: April 15 — July 5
• Summer cohort: July 29 — October 18
• Fall cohort: November 4 — January 24, 2025

Prerequisites

• High-school diploma or GED
• Reading and math skills at 9th-grade level (assessed at intake)
• COVID-19, MMR, and Hepatitis B vaccinations (or willingness to complete during program)
• Background check & drug screen (for clinical externship)

Outcomes (2023 cohorts)

• 68 enrolled, 61 completed (90%)
• 54 passed NCCT-CMA exam on first attempt (89% pass rate)
• Average starting wage: $21.20/hr
